The Top 5 Reasons to Choose a Historic Venue for Your Wedding

Choosing a venue for your wedding can be a struggle for many newly engaged couples. Luckily, historic venues help you and your family ease the decision making process by offering a unique setting to celebrate your big day with your guests. There are various reasons to choose a historic venue, however we will focus on the top 5 reasons we believe our guests choose the Talon Room as their historic wedding venue.

Reason #1: Amazing Photo Opportunities

Everyone knows that the most important part of your wedding day, is the pictures! Couples and their families search for the best place to capture the most important pictures and the memories they want to share for the rest of their lives. The photos of the beginning of your new life together help set the tone for your marriage.
Choosing a great photographer is important, but we would believe that the setting is even more important. By choosing a historic venue for your wedding, you will be granted endless photo opportunities. From your ceremony to your farewell dance, you will capture your most treasured moments in a setting as unique as your love. Capturing these moments is even easier now with a camera in everyone’s pocket and social media at your disposal. Create treasured memories with your closest friends and family in a historic venue for your wedding day!

Reason #2: A Story Worth Telling

Historic wedding venues have something that new venues don’t, a story to tell. When you tour a historic venue, there is always something interesting about that location. The Talon Room, for instance, is in a building that is 120 years old, there has been lots of history made in that amount of time! We actually chose our venue because of the history of the building. Built by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries 147, it was their club house/head quarters. Even now eagle statues and F.O.E. 147 engravings are still visible at the top of our main entrance. Since our venue is located on the lower level of the building, we thought about the foot of the eagle. The foot of an eagle is called a talon, because of that it became the name of choice for our venue. We found telling the story of the name has helped build our brand and relate to our couples. Plus, it is a great ice breaker!
Every couple needs a good story to tell and what better way than by choosing a historic venue to help create the first story of your new life together.

Reason #3: Unique Space to Set your Wedding Apart from the Rest

So many couples choose the cookie cutter venue and they all look and feel the same. When you choose a historic venue, there is nothing else like it in the area. You will never have to worry about having the same drab wedding as the one before yours! The unique charm and character of a historic wedding venue will help bring inspiration to your whole wedding day.
The Talon Room has destressed brick walls, industrial ceilings, unique wood fixtures, an antique bar, and one of the oldest elevators in Lincoln, NE. All of these characteristics make it one of the most unique venues in town. The couples that have chosen the Talon Room speak at length about its beauty and elegance. The unique and special ways the venue will make your wedding day memorable are even greater with a historic venue.

Reason #4: Modern Improvements

As a wedding venue owner, one of my favorite things has been to add simple yet modern improvements to heighten the historic venue experience. There is a fine-line between making improvements that fit the historic charm and going too far and changing the look completely. We have had the delight of improving the space over the last 8 years, from face-lifting the bathrooms, to adding a wedding suite, and refinishing the bar with antique tables found in the venue.
Modern improvements ensure that the venue is fresh and different, always offering couples something unique to even the same venue in the past. With modern improvements, we bring new light and help couples find new amenities to add value to their wedding day.

Reason #5: The Love is in the Air

When starting down the path of owning and operating a wedding venue, there are a lot of decisions to be made and great care must be taken to be successful. There are many factors that contribute to the success of a wedding business, but one that we have considered our greatest strength has been our historic venue and location. When you chose a locally owned and operated historic venue for your wedding, you are choosing to work with someone who cares deeply about their couples and their venue. Each wedding and event brings a deeper joy and meaning to their life. Every time a couple chooses to host their wedding at the Talon Room, we find ourselves overjoyed that we found another great couple to share the limited time we have each year to host a unique wedding. With each unique couple and their family, we make new friends and new fans of what we are trying to accomplish.
Our goal is simple, offer an amazing service that emphasizes our historic venue and share the love of weddings with each couple and their family and friends. When you choose the Talon Room, you get a team that loves what they do and loves where they do it! When you choose a historic venue for you wedding, you will find that love is in the air and is easy to find.

Closing

We hope that we have helped to shed some light on our top reasons that couples choose a historic venue for their wedding. Every couple has a different reason for why they picked their venue: price, size, location, etc. Each reason is as important as the next, but for some the reason may run deeper than you may think. Thoughtful choices that mean more than just the cost and size of your venue gives you an opportunity to explore options that offer memorable photos, stories you love to tell, a wedding that sets yours apart, modern touch to historic space, and a team that will share the love with you and your guests.
